Below is a listing of the various therapeutic groups offered in our office. It is recommended that you  check here for updates, as groups may be filled,  dates or times changed, or groups cancelled. All groups are held at our office in Mendon, unless otherwise specified.


FOR ADULTS
                                                     


"What About ED? A Support Group for Parents"
Does your teenager or child suffer from an eating disorder?
Are you at a loss on how to handle it or what to say? Do you wonder what caused it?


This confidential parent support group is for you. Educational materials about eating disorders, causes, and treatments will be provided. There will also be time allotted for your specific questions about how to handle situations at home.
 Facilitated by Sherri Snyder-Roche, MA, LMHC.

The group meets once a month on the dates noted below.

"Mindful Eating ~ Mindful Living 
Group for Women"
  (postponed)

September 12 - October 24, 2011  
8 weeks, Mondays, 6:30- 8:00 pm  

$20 per session  
The focus of this group is to introduce concepts of mindfulness and relaxation skills, increase participants' awareness of eating and living habits, and increase awareness of the connection between emotions and eating. We will explore
triggers to emotional eating and provide you with new tools. We will also discuss nutrition, introduce guided imagery and provide additional expressive techniques to assist in self-awareness. This has been a wildly popular group! If interested, please call to add your name to our wait list for the next group.

"Women's Empowerment and Spiritual Growth Group ~
Practicing Living your Life Fully and in the Moment"

Facilitated by: Sherri Snyder-Roche, MA, LMHC
10 weeks, $20/group (X10), Thursdays, 6:30 - 8 pm
September 8 - November 10, 2011

This group will explore mindfulness, radical acceptance, and explore what gets in our way of living a fuller life and staying in the moment. Concepts and teachings by Geneen Roth, Ekart Tolle, and Tara Brach, and Brene Brown will be woven through this program. Creative modalities may also be included as a way to deepen these explorations.
No artisitc ability required.



"Recovery and Resilience"    NEW!

January 12 - March 15, 2012
A Women's group designed to explore inner strength, courage and resilience in overcoming challenging times ( trauma, life changes, intimate partner abuse). Each week we will delve into various topics such as: strengthening self-worth, quieting negative thoughts, self-empowerment, letting go of shame, strengthening your wisw-mind, increase self-compassion. We will explore these topics through guided imagery, meditations, handouts, homework, and various readings.



"Women's ~ Living a Mindful and Creative Life"
(Postponed until April, 2012)

January 9 - March 12, 2012  (Starting April 5 - June 7 th, 2012)
Have you ever wanted to explore your creative side, but been afraid?
This inspirational group will explore a variety of avenues guiding you in living a more mindful, intentional, and creative life, while also helping you to be more playful, creative and spontaneous. What is it like to really live in the moment? Do you remember what it was like to play as a child?
We will incorporate teachings from a variety of artists and writers and weave in a variety of playful and interactive games and artistic modalities. After registering, a reading and supply list will be emailed to you. Be prepared to have FUN!
No artistic ability necessary ~ only the openness to take new challenges.

FOR TWEENS and TEENS                                        

"Mindful Eating ~ Mindful Living for Tweens"

A fun group where we will explore how to live more mindfully, pay more attention to the connection between food and emotions, learn relaxation techniques, and learn a few tidbits about nutrition.
We strongly suggest attendance to all seven sessions as they build on each other.

For Tweens ages 10-13

"WHAT.... ME ANXIOUS?!"
(this group is full)
The goal of this group is to help teens gain more skills in coping with anxiety, 
increase self-acceptance, learn some unique stress-reduction techniques, 
while also having fun! Specific exercises and techniques will be taught each week.
We will also weave creative activites and guided imagery throughout the group.

"College Transitions"

Are you graduating HS and preparing to leave for college in the fall?
This group will help to get you ready!

This group will provide the social and emotional tools needed to help you experience a less anxious beginning to college. Most college freshman are anxious, unprepared, overwhelmed, have never had so much free time and never shared a room with an absolute stranger.
Each week, we will provide specific "tools" to help you cope with changes,
eating alone in a cafeteria, free time, and how to cope with your anxiety.We will
also have guest speakers (current  and past college students)
share their personal experience and offer some practical strategies!

"Grief Group for Kids"

A 6-week group to provide a safe and supportive environment for kids to explore grief, loss, and death. Movie clips and creative arts will be used to help self-expression.

"Finding Your Own Voice: Self Assertion Skills"
This group is designed to assist young women in developing more courage, self-confidence, an increased ability to set limits and cope with conflict. We will also explore the "masks we wear" in search for our "true self". The group will offer a variety of fun and creative approaches, DBT, journaling and collages to explore these concepts.
